    Hi All,

I have recently moved into an apartment in Galway city but will be there a maximum of 6 to 9 months. In relation to Broadband contracts they all seem to be a standard 12 month contract . I am looking for a broadband only package with the main Criteria being price and speed. What happens if you sign a 12 month contract with one of the Internet providers and then cancel it after 9 months. Do you have to pay the full amount for the remaining 3 months on the contract or a cancellation fee. ? Thanks in advance

Virgin Media (if available) seem to offer monthly contracts.

We offer 6 months contracts even on VDSL.

You'll have to pay for the installation and the router though, if you go on a 6 months contract.

The issue why most are 12 months or more on the contract is, that they recoup the cost of installation and the router up over that period.

As for cancelling before your contract expires, that differs from provider to provider. With a lot you have to pay the remaider of the contract, disregardless if you cancel early or not. Some offer a buyout fee. Or they charge you for the full installation fee and router pricing, if you end your contract earlier.
