FTA, but not on Freesat

I have a non freesat tv that has a built in sat tuner

It's a bit of a pain to sort and retune channels, so I got a freesat box.

I have one feed going to the freesat stb and one to the tv.
The plan is to put a limited number of sat channels on the tv.
CNN HD, C4 HD, ses Uhd channels etc

What other channels are fta but not on the freesat epg ?

I've no interest in the shopping/religious channels.

Does the Freesat have recording? Usually the second satellite feed allows recording one channel while watching another.

There is nothing worth talking about on FTA once you have the Freesat ones, a few crappy music channels

Channel 4 hd is the main one and paramount if that still hasn't been added to Freesat. Not sure there's anything else worth the effort unless there's a specific niche.

Yeah the freesat has a hdd, it's not a function I use much., anyway I have another freesat stb in a different room than can be used for recording.

So what extra channels are there?

Depending on what model TV you have the likes of chansort sorts FTA satellite channel lists.

    It's free.

It's a Sony tv, I only have a mac at the moment, so.. sorting the epg is an absolute pain., I should have a new windows machine soon.

I have the Sony sw for channel sorting saved somewhere.

My plan is to put the HD channels and a few other basic channels, as well as what's not on freesat onto the t.v. (excluding the foreign language/religious /shopping/crap)

Yeah chansort is great for LGS Samsung's etc.

Sony have their own channel sorter but again its windows based.

    Sorry for hi-jacking the thread.

Is there anyway via tvheadend to get a full 7 day guide for FTA non freesat channels ?
I can get what programmes are on but it doesn't list any description for the programmes. The Freesat channels have the description in the subtitle field aswell.

I noticed that the EPG info has recently disappeared here for the likes of Paramount, Sony Crime +1, Sony Crime 2.
It didn't bother me much .... thought it would come back soon.

Are those the channels you are referring to?

I have triggered OTA EPG Grabber in TVH so will see if that makes any difference today.

I've episode descriptions on mine, up to next Tuesday anyway.
Not sure it matters but what bouquet are you two using?

You can associate a channel with what EPG module to use in the settings, what are they showing?

Why was C4 HD taken off Freesat? It used to be there.

EPG is beginning to populate for those channels today. It did not fully fill during timed EPG update, but is apparently continuing to grab EPG data. It does go out to 7 days.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,366 ✭✭✭batistuta9

i use one of the sky bouquets & it associates the epg with a the channel number from sky. is it doing that with you two
