Months notice... what day to leave

    I have just handed on my notice on a Wednesday and gave my last day as the Wednesday 4 weeks later which HR have accepted.

    My friend who works in HR says that my last day should be the Tuesday, is this correct or would it be specific to her company. She says we work Mon to Fri not Mon to Mon.

    My working week is Monday to Friday.

    Just want to be sure before I go back to them if anyone can help clarify please?

    There is no right or wrong answer.

    If you are happy with this date, HR have accepted it and your manager is ok then there is no more to it than that.

    You could start getting all technical and stuff with should it be 4 weeks from the date or 27 days including the date of notice left or 28 from the notice or 31 as most other months or based on calendar month but no point

    Everyone was happy

    This is one of these silly issues which people shouldn't argue about.

    You negotiate your last day.

    It should not matter if your notice period is 28 or 29 or 30 days.

    You negotiate what works best for both of you. One or both of you may need to compromise.
