TX Test Thread

Hold with me on this one, a new idea for a thread, all theory based! Basically, what is your 'ideal' song to give a TX/Audio system a workout.

Now, doesn't actually have to be a workout song, maybe a tack which you think was nice as a first track or one which you know will actually make or break audio equipment.

    Hopefully I didn't lose anyone.

For me it's the below track, always found its audio fairly all over the place even on the high end stations, but once I heard it before on 'Space 92FM' and it was clear as the disco balls themselves ... I am guessing they had a original EP, never since heard a clean copy...

Shinny Disco Balls - Who da Funk

MC5 "Kick out the jams (you know what)!!!"

Or maybe "Little Monster" by Royal Blood which was the very first track played on my amateur radio show.

That's a great choice! Do you know what, I'm going to add that to the playlist to hear how it sounds. I've a copy tucked away - need a day or two to dig it out and upload it.

EBTG - Future of the future (Stay Gold) is one i go for *noting above*

I suppose depends what you trying to iron out and the processing your using, to tweek the top sometimes The Ones - Flawless but varies.

When it IS right though, Transformer 2 - Pacific Symphony (Italian Smooth Edit) is very very nice to listen too.

An old colleague, from a while back, loves to run 8200s, and will only adjust the processing around a Madonna song, track escapes me now ut an early one.

On another note, Trax - nice audio these days, keep up the great work!

    Hey Mr Trax :pac:

You got Mother's Pride - Floribunda (Suspicious Radio Mix) in there?

I don't have the full lossless version of that tune, but what I have is coming up for you at 9.25pm this evening if you want to have a listen.

They are all great choices! You know your tunes.

What I did this evening was play them all back to back. I recorded this from over the air so it could be reviewed. We process FM and the internet stream independantly, so I really had to record the FM.

Below are the unmodified recordings for download/streaming:

    http://traxdublin.com/media/Trax_Aug_2018.wav (311mb)
    http://traxdublin.com/media/Trax_Aug_2018.mp3 (71mb)

    This was the order:

1 - Who Da Funk feat. Jessica Eve - Shiny Disco Balls (Main Mix)
2 - Deep Dish - The Future Of The Future (Stay Gold)
    3 - The Ones - Flawless (Atoc Re-Remix)
4 - Transformer 2 - Pacific Symphony Too (Italian Smooth Remix)

All played from lossless files, with actual bit rates checked (see attached image).

Overall, I'm happy with the results. What it did highlight is a slight issue with the Flawless track. This tune has some very slight artificial "vinyl" crackles and hiss added (yes, it's not Flawless). The processor picks up on this and enhances it. It can be removed by turning up the noise reduction more - but I'm not a fan of this as it can be agressive and it adds a dullness to the overall sound, so I'll leave it as is.

    Any other feedback welcome.

Missed out on this! Raging, was out at the car working on it, usually have Trax on but I got Dream Dance 3 on CD! So had that on.

Listening back to the recording, sounds great! Can't believe I missed all this

I'd love to have all the music you have, you've a serious amount of gems. I might by a CD for one or two tracks :pac: . Bit of a hobby
