Tiviar Alpha+ - I just want a single EPG with Saorview and Freesat - help :-)

Hi all,
It's a wonderful box. I am using this as a Sky box replacement for the family so it's got to be very simple to navigate and use.

Running, OpenVix, there's so much options for customising and tuning, and singleEPG and multiEPG (which I'm still lost on and I'm a IT tech geek). Running Linux, DNLA capable. Streaming friendly .ts recordings. Great. But, I'm finding it tough to set it up the way I'd like.


I need someone's help (and probably more than me trying to figure this out) to provide guidance on the following, please;


1 One single EPG which contains both Saorview and FreeSat.
2 No more EPGs, or risk of stumbling into another EPG and getting lost.
3 Numbered, so Saorview is like 1-11 and Freesat is 11+ with FreeSat EPG order
4 Ability to channel-up/down between Saorview and FreeSat



In terms of skins, not entirely fussy. I am using Metrix Lite which is nice.

You can do this manually, or quicker using DreamBoxEdit.

Manually:
Press Up, Green (for satellite/extended)-> OK for Terrestrial ->Highlight RTE1 ->Menu >Add service to Bouquet->Favourites.

Repeat for RTE2, TV3 etc.

Press Up, Green (for satellite) OK for 28.2E Astra ->Highlight BBC One HD ->Menu >Add service to Bouquet->Favourites.

Repeat for BBC2 HD, BBC4 HD etc...


Press Up, Blue (for Favourites) -> Favourites (TV). Saorview and Freesat channels on one EPG when you press UP on remote.



Alt. press EPG button for Grid EPG.

DreamBoxEdit will allow you to add/arrange Saorview and Freesat Channels to Favourites Bouquet much quicker than using a remote.

If you don't have dreambox, the long way is.

1. Add teh channels you want to the default "Favourites" bouquet

2. Go to Menu - Setup - User Interface - Channel Selection

3. Set "Always Show Bouquets" and "Enable Multiple Bouquets" to No

Then all your channels will be on the one list and will be there when teh box is turned on. So the family will be able to use it

Testing with Dreambox edit now. Hopefully a full EPG is available even with favorites.

It is. But you have to set up your EPG in the settings pointing it to where the EPG is to download to and the source of EPG. Just pick sky openepg. What image are you using. Vix or Atv ?

There's a big thread on this already and a guy has shared a backup of his image if that helps you

I am using ViX. I noticed last night that hitting EPG brought up the Freesat channel EPGs but the Saorview channels were missing.

I will look for the thread.

Saorview should populate with the full 7 days once you select a channel. If the box was powered off or you simply haven't watched a Saorview for more than 7 days it might not show them.

the strange thing is that at the top of the EPG, I see the last saorview channel, RTE News Now, it's blank.

If i scroll on to it, the EPG flips right around to the last Freesat channel.

I cant see the other saorview channels listed on the EPG.

Post a photo of your EPG. Also post a photo of what you get for the current channel list (by pressing UP on the remote)

Press UP on the remote - take a photo of the current channel listing/bouquet.

Press exit. Press EPG. Is the EPG for RTE News Now populated?

Using AutoBouquetsMaker you can easily do this.

• Create a CustomMix file for UK Freesat to add the Saorview channels to the Freesat channel list
• Modify the Freesat provider file to add a new Section for Saorview channels
• Enable Saorview in AutoBouquetsMaker and set to your local transmitter, but disable creation of the channel list or you'll have duplicated channels - the CustomMix file will move them into the Freesat bouquets.

I'll happily share my ABM files if you want them - but they're using the Sky UK (FTA only) channel list instead of Freesat, the principle is identical though.

Hi apogee.

I tried this, thank you.

When I pressed up, rte newsnow is selected on the list but no progress info.
When I click EPG, the EPG actually selects BBC1 below rte news now, as if it does not like rte news now etc.

Should I check providers etc and EPG settings?

Just to verify, RTE News Now is working and you can actually view the channel?

If yes to above, then Main Menu->Setup->EPG->Settings->Enable EIT EPG - YES.

Looking for some answers on what's going wrong with my bouquets setup if someone can help? Created a bouquet will all the channels I want using dreambox editor. Everything works fine for a day or two but for no reason my bouquet named MyFavs changes to N/A and nothing is visible. Only thing I can think of is I had to manually scan for e4 maybe that's the culprit, or autobouquetsmaker is running and killing my one? Where can i check this? All help greatly appreciated!
