Has anyone a cat enclosure/cat proof garden?

I have two cats who are indoors. Originally I had intended to start letting them out when they were old enough, but to be honest, would prefer not to let them roam as we live next to a busy road, and have some neighbours who are not the most cat friendly. So I've been thinking of either fencing in the garden or getting a cat enclosure/run. The enclosure is probably the easier idea as I think it would difficult enough to make our garden cat proof.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has done either of these, and if you have any suggestions/pictures of what would be a good option, or companies who do this. I'm in the south east if that makes a difference.

Wouldn't do it myself, but loads of cool ideas on Pinterest.

I ordered a cat run from ST sheds three weeks ago, should be landing within the next week so I can update then with a review. It's like waiting for Christmas.

I did look there, but to be honest I'm not the best at diy so I'd probably be looking at somewhere that does it for me! Thanks.

Thanks for the link, I've never heard of them so I'll take a look now. I can imagine the excitement of waiting for it. Do let me know how it goes please :)

If you search for "catio" you will find a few threads with ideas and photos

I ordered one from omlet.co.uk at the start of the year. It was pricy but so worth it for the peace of mind it gives. My younger cat Moose is much easier to manage now that he has an outlet for his energy rather than being stuck in all day, and the older two took to it without any problems despite being free roaming during the day for the last 9 years. I’d buy one again in a heartbeat!!

I live in the country and built a nice cat area when we moved here. It started quite small but it's fairly big now.
I built it into the hill beside the house and even around the tree.
It's a bigger area now than the house so they can go in and out as they please.

I did do a search alright, but all the threads that came up were old, so I wondered if anyone had anything more recent to add, especially when it comes to current companies that do it/prices.

Sound great! I wish I had more space than I do. Unfortunately we're in a typical estate with a standard garden. I'll have to measure up and see what I can find to fit the space.

That looks great. What size did you go for? And do they have enough room in it to run around?

I got the kit with the enclosure and house inside. Ive better pictures but none handy right now. Its lovely. I built a load of platforms and walkways inside it for her. The cat loves it.

I initially went for the 3 x 3 one which would have been plenty for 1 cat, but having 3, I decided To get the same again and double the size of it. There is loads of room for them to run, I have two large cat trees in there, a kennel, lots of tunnel toys, a massive waterproof bed and a small exercise trampoline that they use as a bed and even with all that they still have room to zoom around the place and stretch the legs!!

Lucky kitties to have such a big space and toys :) The system looks straightforward enough to put together too, definitely one to consider. Thanks again.

    Hi Zapperzy,

    It landed today :-D

Delighted with it. Seems sturdy and good quality. Dave is sound too. Asked for an extra piece at the front to stop my gravel flowing out or the cats digging under and he cut and fitted an extra piece there and then. Highly recommend them.

Although the cats are a little confused as to why I'm now throwing them outside in the cold. Hopefully we get a little of the warm weather back in the next week or two to really test it out.

It looks really nice. :) I'm sure the cats are going to love it. Did the company put it together for you?

Delighted to hear that, thought I may have to put it together myself. :) Imagine what it would look like after that. :D

Looks great! Did you order one of the ones listed on the website or was it your own design/dimensions? I've contacted them but haven't heard back in over a week :(

That's the 8x6x6 from the website. Did you email from the contact form on the website? Anytime I've mailed them I've had a reply the same day, usually within an hour or two. Maybe send a follow up mail.

Now I've got to figure out how best to furnish it. I'd like to put up a few shelves and get a big branch wrapped in sisal in there. Anyone got any ideas?
