    Hi everyone,

I’m hoping to do primary teaching or childcare in Mary I and was hoping ye might be able to help me with some of the questions I have!

Are there things like Irish, English and maths and if so do they just cover the basics like grammar/ verbs, vocab/ simple equations etc or are they more like what you would do in school so things like poetry/ pros/ stories/ plays/ advanced formulas and equations etc?

What are the placements like? Do you have lots of responsibilities or is it more observation- based? Do you have to pick and organise the placements yourself or are they done for you? Are they different childcare settings/ play schools each time or are they in the same one but different classes?

Can you go abroad during the course and if so where can you go and what can you do while over there?

What supplies/ equipment/ stationary etc do you need? Do you need a laptop and/ or printer?
Do the letters on the timetables show what group you’re in? If so, roughly how many people are in each group and are they done alphabetically or by ability or what?

Is there a lot of group work or is most of it done by yourself? What do things like ‘Foundation Studies’ and ‘Professional Dev’ on the timetable mean?
Do you get given notes or are you expected to type/ write them as the lecturer is talking? Are any of them available online?

Can you do specialisms with this course like you can for teaching? And if so, can you do extra modules in them to avoid doing a dissertation?
What’s involved with the medical and vetting before starting?

Can you work in a primary school setting with this degree?

Can you work abroad with this degree or would you have to convert it/ have it recognised or what?

Are most of the lectures/ classes/ tutorials in the new building or the old building? And when might the new library be opened?

    Thanks in advance!
