    Hi folks,

Anyone know where I can buy B12 tablets in Dublin that would be sufficient for vegans? Preferably one I could take weekly. I've been to several health shops and chemists and no joy. People are recommending cyanocobalamin?

    Thanks

You can buy 1-a-day tablets online from The Vegan Society, here.

Sorry, I'm not sure about weekly tablets. As a long-term vegan, I recently got my B12 levels checked and they're fine, without deliberate supplements, so I've not had to worry!

As far as I know, Cyanocobalamin IS Vitamin B12, (a form of)

Good survey of the issue here:

Looks like cyanocobalamin would be ok to take as long as you're not a smoker.

1000ug tablets but I'd recommend twice a week over once a week, not sure you could absorb enough regularly with once a week with any tablets.
Get a doctor to check your levels after a while, whatever you do.

Solgar also do a Methylcobalamin (which is what I take) and they do it in a 5000mcg which would do you to take once a week.

Contributor "davidjtaylor" gave a Link to the "Vegetarian Society" for their supplement "Veg1", which contains B12 as Cyanocobalamin (as stated on another webpage on the same V.S. website).

    Wikipedia states that Cyanocobalamin is:
Quote: '[…] produced by bacterial fermentation'.
I am not yet allowed to post Links but the reader can locate the above quote by using their search engine to search for (without the double-quotes):
    "cyanocobalamin AND Wikipedia"
