What is this stair-like road marking?

Been driving on this road for past few months every day to work and always wondering what is this road marking.

It looks like stair-case from side, there is different distanced lanes around the turn.

    It's on this turn:

(Markings not visible on map or street view, so must be relatively recent)

    A vague drawing:

The grey thing in middle is what I am wondering about.

I assume it's some sort of symbol for notifying that the cars are positioned at various distances across the turn for buses/trucks? What is that marking called?

I don't recall seeing it on test 8 years ago.

It's to keep cars in turning lane back from junction to allow Buses to swing around an otherwise tight bend.

I think it indicates the lane to be in for the industrial estate, sort of a factory silhouette.

There's another one in the left lane at the next junction under the luas bridge.

It to hold traffic back so large trucks/buses can gain entry. the traffic on inside can go up further as they dont affect the turning circle....

Supposed to work but you will always have some "driver" who will pull up too far and still block buses,....then look blankly when holds up the entire traffic

Always happens at Stephens Green where the right lane's stop line is further back than the left one. Some idiot always creeps forward and then a bus tries to come out of Hume Street. See it nearly every day. The buses just come out anyway and stop in front of the car to let them make the next move.

Usually sheepishly reverse or if they can't they'll pull in front of the left queue.

Drives me nuts.... along with some other "skills" the drivers in Ireland seem to pick up

Another spot is at the South Great George's Street/Dame Street junction. The right lane ends further back than the left but there's the occasional muppet (usually a taxi driver) who pulls right up to the pedestrian crossing impeding buses trying to turn left onto George's Street.

I don't recall 100% but I am quite certain all markings on that road are inline.
I will check on monday, I always assumed it means an indication for trucks and buses that around the corner - everybody is indentet

On the Google Maps link you provided in the OP, they are not in line on Burton Hall Road.

I was wrong about the markings at The Green. Noticed it yesterday, the right lane is in line with the other lanes. The other 2 lanes have the bicycle box in front of it though. The stop line is a good bit back from the crossing and cars in the 2 left lines go right up to the crossing so cars in the right think they can too. I think the arrow confuses people. Looks like it's telling you to pull right up to the line :D
