Just wondering what the demand for someone with a degree in energy systems engineering (from NUIG) would be like.

Would I be better getting a mechanical engineering degree?

    Thanks for reading.

I don't know that area specifically (I'm in electronics), but I'd expect it'd be employable enough. The move towards renewable energy seems to have made opportunites in that whole area. Lots of engineers work outside their speciality anyway, so I generally recommend people in your situation to do whichever interests you more. You'll work harder, and get a better degree as a result.

Demand where and for what parts... You need to get excited about your course..are you thinking about Mechanical Engineering to get a job in F1 racing or energy systems to work in Airbus on electric aircraft.. This stuff counts to get an energetic career that pays well and you will be happy to go to and be eager to learn more.. What great project would you do in your dream job to convince someone to hire you and which course will enable that.

Or are you ok with 8..8 in local pharma plant or engineering consultancy ..

    What do you want?

Make sure they are real accredited engineering degrees...that counts.. Look at course content are you happy with it or would you be happier with another content..
