A friend here in work has unearthed some old shares he had for a company he worked for in the 90's called BULL, which was bought out by another company called Atos in 2014. What would have happened to his old shares? Can he still cash them in or are they now dead? If they can be cashed in, how does he go about doing this?

No harm in contacting their (atos) investor relations dept to see what's the story

From what I can see your 'friend' should have got 4.90 per share when the takeover was completed and Bull delisted back in 2014. Presumably all correspondence relating to the takeover and the final cheque would have gone to the address on the share certs. Obviously cheque now out of date, they may issue a new one at a cost, but worth checking with Atos investor relations anyway.

Now of course if your 'friend' owned just one share......

Cheers guys, indeed it may very well be worth his while as he says he has "few hundred" shares so if he gets the 4.90 a share, it's a nice little find!
