Radio locked after battery was disconnected. If I get just a standard radio should it be pretty much plug and play or is it more complicated than that? I had been looking at something like this but presume it'd be beyond my limited knowledge to install

Why not get the pass code for the existing radio from a VW dealer?
No need for a new radio I would have thought.

Should have added that half the number keys don’t work. I have the code but can’t input it.

Why don't you look for someone in your area who repairs / decodes car stereos. It is a simple fix to get your radio up and running again

I'd prefer a more modern stereo anyway, ideally that I could connect via aux or bluetooth
