Need a car for 3 months

I need a car for about 3 months and I'm wondering what my options are.

Long term rentals are quite expensive.
Do many places offer leases for that length of time?
Another thought I had is go to a dealer and come to some sort of arrangement to buy a car and have them buy it back. Is this crazy?

Look at the bangernomics thread, buy something cheap with plenty of NCT on it that you can sell easily in 3 months time where you won't lose much on it. Forget about buying from a dealer.

Just buy the cheapest Japanese car you can get your hands on. Not sure how insurance will work for you.

How many days a week do you need it? will you be in Dublin?

GoCar might be as cheap as anything,....

I'll be between Dublin and Waterford so GoCar isn't an option. When I'm in Dublin, I won't need it. I could be doing a return trip once a week.

If only for 3 months would public transport not be a better option?

Otherwise as suggested you could go to car dealer and see what they could offer.....for short term they wont be cheap either.....

Buy a Corolla and tax it for 3 months.

Nct is a must and plenty cheap ones out there.

I'm willing to pay for the convenience of having a car, I've done enough public transport up and down in my time.

I agree. Get a Toyota corolla for around 900 bucks with 12 months NCT then sell it in 3 months and get all your money back.

I remember reading that but I've yet to find a rental company that gives cars at that price. Maybe I haven't looked hard enough
