Child seats and boosters

I have towo girls (8yrs and 6yrs old) They're both still in high back boosters and I am of the opinion that all they need is booster seats but my wife thinks the high back boosters are safer and so is resisting the move to boosters. Its hard to argue with her when its the safety of our kids in question however I don't believe they're any safer in high back boosters for one reason, the seat belt guides cause drag on the belts and if they lean forward for whatever reason the belt doesn't retract smoothly due to the guide and so in a collision they wont lock properly as they're not taut. The seats aren't cheap, the two in my car are britax and the two in her car are maxi-cosi but the problem is the same in both cars.

Both girls are tall for their ages but quite thin. The high back boosters are more supportive on long journeys and both of them are able to sleep easily in them whereas they probably wouldn't sleep as easy on boosters.

Any one offer any opinions on whats best to use?

My 4 year old son is borderline on that. I'd rather him in a car seat for long journeys. I've a booster that can be grabbed on the go if needed.

I would highly suggest with highback boosters with built in ISOFix buckles.

This should not be happening, are you sure it's installed and adjusted correctly?
