I'm getting an engine management light on my Alfa 159. Anyone know where the cheapest place is to get the code read? I tried one of them OBD scanner things but couldn't get it to connect to my ECU. Need to get it read asap

I got a cheap OBDII scanner off Amazon, has worked on both the 159s I have owned.

I think it uses the KWP2000 protocol, so maybe check your scanner is compatible.

2.2jts. Praying the code isn't timing chain related

Oh that's why i asked.. Ive the same engine in my 2007 159. Had chain done at 17k miles and again at 86k miles with 8k oil changes.. i hope you dont see the P0016 error when you read the diag.

On the bright side an GM timing kit with an Alfa chain tensioner can be cheaper option. A good indy will keep costs down.. best of luck! Hopfully it's just emissions related.
