    Hi Folks.
I want to cover a small area with paving slabs. Its about 16'x8' .
I was thinking I could make up a timber frame , fill up inside the frame with suitable gravel/sand and lay slabs on top.

The question is would that work and if so what size timber should be used and what is the correct filling.
I would make frame just the right size for full slabs as I don't have any way to cut them . ( tools are in short supply....I do have a saw, level, hammer and a few other bits but you get the idea. )
    Any ideas
    Thanks.

I did the same job myself a couple years ago and the slabs have not moved a bit.
I used 7 by 2's for the frame. With 2 by 2 stakes hammered into ground and 7 ×2 screwed to them.
All on gravel and sand Base. And dry sand brushed in between gaps after. Remember to allow for said gap when making your frame.
