Tyres for a Hyundai ix35

I've been looking on tyrereviews.co.uk for tyres for an ix35 and have a couple in mind but am also looking for real-life experience from anyone here around the following...

    I'm looking for a tyre that is/has:
    • short braking distance wet and dry
    • an all season tyre
    • low noise
    • not high wearing

The last set of tyres I got were Cooper Zeon 4XS Sport and while the tyre has been generally good, the wear has been shockingly high (no change in driving style, roads used and wheel alignment tracked and balanced at time of fitting).

The only indication of this in the reviews was 'slightly high wear' in an Auto Bild test where it came 2nd out of fifteen tyres tested at the time.

So can anyone advise a low-wearing, low-noise all season tyre with great braking distances for an ix35 specifically? Not interested in what someone had on their golf/focus/punto/911/f40 :)

Is there a reason you're looking for tyre advise specifically for an ix35 rather than a vehicle of comparable size/weight?

I'm sure there's tyres out there that people have used that have similar ratings to the size you need.

Ah yeah, I suppose a Sportage, Kuga etc is okay, just not some ridiculous comparison. Cars of similar size, weight, engine size (1.7 diesel) is all good :)

What would you consider high wear? An ix35 will be hard on tyres compared to a golf or octavia etc. From a good grippy all season tyre id be happy with 15 - 20k KM. Generally speaking the quieter and grippier the tyre the softer and worse wearing it will be

I understand the physical mechanics of the tyres but I'm looking for a good balance between noise, grip, wear (and let's throw in fuel consumption too :pac:). For example, the Cooper's above did 10,000 Km before wearing to 2mm... They are quiet but not that quiet, nor as grippy as I'd expect for that wear! We've been driving this and other SUVs since 2012 (Qashqai and ix35)and these are the worst tyres I've ever seen for wear. Hell, I used to severely punish my 170 PS Audi A3 quattro and didn't experience that kind of wear! The reviews for the Cooper's said 'slightly high tyre wear' but what I've experienced is ridiculous...

That does sound like they are wearing poorly alright. The ix35 is heavy at 1800kg with only a driver (Qashqai is 400kg lighter btw) so the wear will never be great but i'm sure you can get better than that. Kia issued a bulletin to change the toe settings on their cars due to poor tyre wear (from 2 deg inward to 0) possibly there has been an update for the ix? A slight toe in on a car that heavy will eat tyres for breakfast
