    Hello,

I would like to know how to take good care of partial acrylic denture.
And could it really damage your real tooth that are near the fake one on the denture, if so how that happens.

    Hi MagicShadow,

The denture may trap plaque and debris against the adjacent tooth and cause decay or inflammation of the gum in the area due to bacteria accumulating and the saliva not getting under the plate as much.
Make sure to rinse your mouth and plate after eating. Carefully brush and floss or use interdental brushes regularly paying special attention to the areas of tooth and gum that come into contact with the acrylic. Use a fluoride mouthwash.
Don’t wear the denture at night.
    Leave it in water overnight.
A few times a week soak the denture in a denture cleaner or Milton solution for about half an hour.
Brush the denture carefully twice a day with a hard denture brush.

Dont soak a denture in milton or other bleach, it will change the colour of the tooth and gum portions of the denture and tarnish clasps. Denture cleaning tablets are fine.

A partial acrylic denture is not the best type for gum health. Because it rests on the gums and has nothing to stop it moving on chewing they tend to cause gum issues on the teeth they touch. There is another type of denture called a chrome cobalt denture that is kinder to your other teeth and gums and might be a better long term solution. Better still bridgework or implants that are not removable. Your options may vary.

Leaving it out at night is good general advice.

Clean with a toothbrush and non abrasive toothpaste, not hot water and no dishwashers (yes people do that).

Clean the rest of your teeth extremely carefully especially where the denture touches on the inside.

If you feel unwell, sea sick or nauseous remember to remove the denture as you can loose them.

My dentist told me about denture cleaning tablets even recommended me which ones, but how often do I need to put
denture to clean with tablets? My dentist told me once a month, but I see that people doing this once a week even a day.

This partial acrylic denture is temporary anyway max 1 year.

When leaving it out at night does it need to be in water?

    What is non abrasive toothpaste?
