Training after surgery

Hi, I had most of a tumor removed from my brain recently, 24th July,

Now all i can think about is getting some training in, obviously nothing too heavy, bit of bjj or light pad work
all indications are my body is healing ok, mobility, coordination and balance are improving,
getting in roughly 1 hour a day with resistance band exercises and some walking at this stage

My aim is to build myself up before I start radiation and chemotherapy but I am concerned about over doing it too
    I’d appreciate any advice

    Thanks

    Mick

I would consult your doctor to be honest Mick. People can be sound and give decent advice here but you need medical advice.

Honestly, talk to your doctor. Anybody else opinion, or their experiences are irrelevant to your specific case.
Even with light pad work, or BJJ there is a rick of talking a small knock to the dead. Might be a rick, might not. Just ask.

The Doc encourages exercise but I won’t go flipping tractor tires just yet,
I have a physio appointment today so hopefully I’ll get the green light to start pushing a bit more

I'd avoid rolling and training. If the doc says you can train, I'd hit pads or the bag at most 30%

Really though, even if your physio gives you the green light be sure to check with your doctor before you go exerting yourself

    Hi Mick,

You are best to consult with your doctor on this one - with the seriousness of the situation involved that is the best solution and no one on here is qualified to give you that sort of advice, it can only come from your own personal doctor.

Closing the thread as any advice on here is not from a qualified professional.

Best of luck with your recovery and training.
