Time for a sticky Aer Lingus*Aer Lingus thread

I don't see any valid reason for not having an Aer Lingus*Aer Lingus*Aer Lingus sticky as well as a Ryanair one. In fact, I'm wondering why Ryanair was singled out on this Forum.

    As this article explains:

    https://www.irishtimes.com/news/consumer/yet-another-passenger-left-stranded-by-aer-lingus-guest-relations-1.3583234

"We have been getting a large volume of complaints about Aer Lingus in recent weeks. There is a common thread running through them all. Passengers are saying they are finding it next to impossible to make contact with the company when things go wrong".

"If you have struggled to make contact with Aer Lingus or have been left waiting a very long time for their fabled “guest relations” department to get back to you then we would like to hear from you".

Ryanair gets, to this day, more specific posts than any other firm on here. Rolling cancellations since last autumn coupled with all the strikes this summer (often blamed on ATC or weather when neither are problems) add to that

It is true that Ryanair's self-inflicted current problems have been rightly highlighted in more recent times but in any discussion Forum a balance in fairness must be maintained if credibility is not to be compromised. The Ryanair*Ryanair*Ryanair thread has been live since 2008 yet:

    2010
    https://www.irishexaminer.com/ireland/aer-lingus-complaints-top-ryanairs-126580.html

"Aer Lingus clocked up a higher rate of complaint than no-frills rival Ryanair among passengers departing from the three state airports in 2009, according to new figures from the Commission for Aviation Regulation (CAR)."

    2014 and 2015
    https://www.independent.ie/business/irish/ryanair-receives-fewer-complaints-than-aer-lingus-34193172.html

"Ryanair received fewer complaints than Aer Lingus for the second year in a row."

    2018
    http://www.thejournal.ie/aer-lingus-storm-emma-3890925-Mar2018/

"The vast majority of the complaints stem from the airline’s perceived communications failures as it struggled with the extreme weather event!.

It would also be prudent to ask why was it deemed necessary to have the name "Ryanair" repeated three times with asterisks in the thread heading?

However, at the end of the day, it should also be borne in mind that a separate thread provides consumers with an opportunity not just to discuss complaints but to ask questions in relation to their airline-specific travel problems (as happens in the Ryanair thread).

All that is valid, but the fact remains that there are much less threads or posts on Boards about Aer Lingus while it's almost never ending about Ryanair . It would be a stickie for a stickie's sake only.

We are not obliged to create an Aer Lingus thread simply on the basis that we have a Ryanair thread. We are not the RTÉ, required to give equal airtime to both sides.

If we have sufficient Aer Lingus threads to warrant a megathread, then yes, we would look at creating it. But right now, that's not the case.

Aer Lingus deserve one for their horrible policy of charging ~€8 per voucher.

My last flight with Aer Lingus was flagged as needing assistance from plane to gate - as usual, nothing happened, nor have they replied when complained. Ryanair, by contrast, had the required assistance waiting, helped with passport control, & could not have been better. Time for Aer Lingus to wake up!

The difference is we have higher expectations of Aer Lingus so get outraged by things that are par for the course for Ryanair.

The service with Aer Lingus is still light years ahead of Ryanair.

Hahahahaha! I've zero expectations of Aer Lingus, and they still manage to disappoint.

Conor Pope / Pricewatch have dedicated a full page to customer complaints about Aer Lingus in the Irish Times today.

That's correct but the issue here was if there should be a stickie and the fact remains that, on Boards, there aren't sufficient Aer Lingus posts to warrant a stickie taking up space permanently on the front page.
