Spouse Employment Permits

I moved to Dublin from Brazil earlier this year, and am currently working at an IT company, under the Critical skills work permit.

My wife, who is also on IT, moved along. Ever since, she had multiple job interviews, but could not land the job, as the employers were not willing to apply for a Spouse employment permit (and decided to try hiring EEA nationals instead).

We have means to maintain ourselves with a single salary, but we fear her carreer in IT might be negatively affected by the time she's been out of the job.

Has anyone (or anyone's spouses) been in a similar situation and found it very challenging to get a job?

Following a very quick google it appears she can apply for a spouse employment permit in her own right. Can she not?

This will only be the case if she let's her IT skills go stale.

How's her networking knowledge? Study and take the exam for Network+.

How's her security knowledge? Study and take the exam for Security+.

How's her English? Study and take the exam for IELTS.

    And so on.

She should not be sitting at home doing nothing. Use this time to learn things!

She could also create a website. Maybe there's some idea in her head. She could build it full stack - node + vue.
