HI there, I am looking to buy a house in a rural area and I just have a question about the roof. It's a corrugated slate roof. I was able to get into the attic the other day and noticed there is no felt and what looks like cement is between the rafters just under the slates. When I researched it more I found out that houses pre 1950 didn't use felt, just slates and mortar. However the cement is cracking in some parts and falling off quite easily in other parts or has already fallen off some slates. So I'm wondering if this leaves the roof weakend and slates prone to movement where water can seep in. I took photos but I I'm not sure if I'm allowed post them.

P.s I did have a survey done and there is no mention of the roof in the report. I asked the surveyor about the conditioin of the roof (before I got into the attic to see for myself) but he said it's slates and maybe some need to be replaced. That was it.
