Over the last few weeks I've noticed (in several local authority areas) that any new yellow paint has a different lemon-yellow colour to the old stronger amber yelow lines

anybody know why or anything about the change?

Photo at the Ennis Lane junction in Lissenhall, Swords, but I've seen the same in Kildare,Meath, Rathfarnham, and Dublin city

Probably a cock up at the depot, they have the wrong colour paint.
    But used it anyway.

I've noticed it around Limerick as well. I thought it was just LCCC skimping on paint.

I saw that too, in Dublin, a yellow box junction repainted with a lighter more lemony yellow.

Maybe someone ordered yellow paint instead of Amber paint.
    edit:
This could have something to do with it.

Due to EPA legislation the Yellow chlorinated rubber line marking paint (sold below) is now only available to experienced contractors and is not available to the general public (it is lead containing)

Good to know our roads are covered in lead.

Its like Bird's custard, was definitely more yellow back in the day, I blame the EU.

It always was, especially when we had leaded petrol! :p

Talking of yellow paint are the cats eyes working at night on m8 towards fermoy from cork. Looks like their coated in paint since they relined recently.

It's obviously a policy decision so , if its not just in the Pale.
That chlorinated lead issue might be the most likely suspect for the change.

Well, if the amber stuff has lead in it and the yellow stuff doesn't ... probably a good idea just to use yellow paint ... Just sayin'

Its actually got more golden yellow here in Tipperary. Probably saved money to buy the premium stuff by cheaply resurfacing the roads. I'm paying over €390 a year road tax and the R498 was recently resurfaced using chippings. Idiots even surfaced over the cat eyes.

Richie Kavanagh said it best "even though i pay me road tax, they treat me like a clown"

It's not road tax. It's not for roads.

We all know that, but try driving on the road without paying it (if you’re unlucky enough to get caught that is).
