If after separation/ divorce, one party had considerable funds , but is finding it hard to get by on a minimum wage job,and paying rent after family home sold, are they entitled to any state help?
The funds from sale of house are put away to try save a little to add to it in the hope of buying a place in the future.
Would a person be expected to use there funds to live?
Therefore putting the possibility of having their own place ,put out of the picture forever.

It would be the case then state accommodation would possibly be required in the future?
    Thks

I dont think you would be entitled to as state help and you have 'considerable funds'
With property prices rising I dont know if your funds will stretch to an apartment or if you need accommodation for your children.
Could you use part of your funds to better yourself as in up skilling or college with the prospect of getting a better job?

Most state benefits are means tested so they take into consideration your income and expenditure but i dont know if they can dig into your bank account etc. Maybe contact the citizens abvice bureau they're independant and should be able to give you more information
