Thanks for reply. What brand do you have? I was looking online and I found two brands Ambic and Shoof but I don't know which one is better.

I thought about buying one but the effort of having to connect it up every milking. Instead now I just dry off any spins that are giving trouble, most of the time there is no issue drying off the spin (you do need to keep an eye on the spin the week or so afterwards), you'll get almost no reduction in daily litres going from 4 to 3 spins I find also.

I have one from years ago but the seal on the lid is gone. I bought another one in dairygold last week that was there for years, fairly costly @ €68 and a fair pain connecting it up for different cows, if you have any lively cow she'll put it flying.

Do you put a dry cow tube up that quarter? Will she still have high scc in that quarter at the next calving?

No certainly not worth the risk of putting up a dry cow tube. And a decent few do come right by the next lactation, long time dry definitely helps to heal the quarter, however it is a big negative tick against her and if she is an oldish cow or has any other issues she could well be gone end of the lactation.

So just stop milking that quarter, it was a vet told me that it would be safe to dry off a quarter with. Dry cow tube as each quarter is seperate the only danger is milking that quarter by mistake

Well I've never risked it ha, Athlo I have heard of lads putting milking cow tubes in one spin and leaving off the milk from other 3 spins and getting away with it ha. Only safe way to try any of the above would be to test the milk for antibiotics just after you have put in the tube. And whereas one cow might pass using this, another one might not ha, so best to test all cows you might try the above with.
