Try moving the steering wheel from side to side while turning key.

Is this their car or yours? Have you tried a spare key? Perhaps keys have gotten mixed up if you have another Toyota around.

No both same keys , seems to be a barrel issue

Warranty was just out this shouldn't have gone so soon I told them that it could have been a serious issue if it had cut out

    Toyota looking into it now

I usually spray WD40 into my car's ignition key. I believe it would prevent the issue as OP.

The Second Mechanic did not recommend that at all

Is there a big bunch of keys on the keychain? I have seen some stupidly heavy bunches of keys cause a lot of damage to lock barrels due to the heavy pendulum effect.

I have same issue Nissan Qashqai. Key worn & could not remove. Aa removed key. Using new spare key now but I need to use both hands to pull key out so my theory is that worn key or dust in barrels is to blame. My car dealer is “too busy” to look at car. What is the cheapest & best way to fix this as I am nervous now in case I get stranded somewhere. I assume as I same issue with new key I need to replace barrel

In most cases, graphite powder is the recommended lubricant for locks.
Being dry, it does not get dirt stuck in it the way oil would.

So should the key ignition be lubricated regulary ?

I do use silicone spray on windows to keep clear and save my window regulator
