Just wondering where people have stayed when they went to Rome - what area and if you stayed in a hotel or Airbnb?
Thinking of a trip over there and would like some ideas of where people generally stay.
    Thanks

We stayed in Hotel Trevi in March of this year. Location was good literally beside the Trevi Fountain. Hotel room was small but nice. From my experience of Italy they don't do big hotel rooms!

Stayed in Hotel Ripa in Trastevere. No issues.
I liked the location and facilities. Would stay there again.

In June we used AirB&B, €725 for three of us for 5 nights, Pantheon Domus Valentino. Great location in front of The Pantheon, 5 minutes from Piazza Navona, less than 10 to Trevi & Spanish steps, Colosseum & Vatican were 30 minutes away on foot but Rome's a great city to walk around, the host Fabio was sound,

We stayed for a week here. Cheap and right in the heart of Rome - http://www.booking.com/Share-1Lz3Xv

Stayed in a really nice Airbnb apartment right beside the Vatican and it cost less than half the going rate for a reasonable hotel. Great area to get around Rome. Got the Omnia card also which I definitely recommend.

Ok thanks for the suggestions. We came across an Irish owned Airbnb apartment beside the Colosseum that looks good. Might book that.

If you stay out by the Collosseum, you are a good bit away from most of the usual spots that tourists tend to want to visit, just factor that in

Ok thanks. We'll keep that in mind but we want to be beside the metro which this apartment is! And to be honest the Spainish steps / Treve fountain is not that far by foot.
The area of the Colosseum and Fourm is what interests us the most anyway so this one looks good.
    It's called Guest Apartment Colosseo

We stayed in the Crowne Plaza which is quite a bit out but the bus stop is outside the door and costs €1.50 into the heart of the city.
As its a bit further out the rooms are that bit bigger, have a pool and a spa and loads of choice for breakfast.
Lots of cake and processco - which was lovely not going to lie :)
