Is social media making a cop's life easier?

To catch petty criminals i mean

Between tagging over checkpoints, visible text threats to people and the like, it shows that we have a very low level of criminal sophistication.

Its probably because the technology is so new. I wonder if the bad guys will get better at track covering as the years pass.

And yes i know the tech introduces a bunch of other problems too, but for this thread id like to focus on the paper trail aspect.

    No

The guards are still working in the 1950s. 111 stations have no internet access.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

If using social media to help solve crime is a real thing then we really are screwed.

If this is true the gardai really have a lot to answer for.

Anyhow, it's hardly admissible in court is it?

The whole court system could be replaced by trial by social media. Enough dislikes and its off to the slammer.

Is it true the cops here eat three happy meals instead of one quarter pounder meal?

It's probably making day to day policing more difficult, with camera phones shoved in their faces being told they're being taped endlessly. Whereas they could maybe get away with a couple of extra "distraction blows" before, any use of force is splattered all over Facebook these days.

Oh well, give me an easy life and a peaceful death.
