Folks, looking to source a simple digital room thermostat for my elder Mother.  There is already a Horstman timer beside it, so just want a simple to use device.  The current one has to be adjusted by holding down the set button and then pressing the up or down button (2 finger job).  A simple dial would be great.  Also handy if it could display the set point and the room temp (twin display).  Battery operated, volt free device.  Does such an animal exist?.

I'm interested in something similar - arthritis sure sucks and still don't feel old. Hopefully there is something like you described available.

    Cheers

Hi, maybe not so simple, but you could look at installing Hive Active Heating.

Simple dial on the stat, but also serves as the timer, its wireless (Hive receiver would replace the original timer also)
Assuming you have broadband, this will also then be operable via an app, which you could also have on your phone should your mother ever get stuck, you can just take over remotely

If you wanted to add to this, you can also link to Amazon Alexa or Amazon Echo, so if Arthritis etc. make working the timer difficult, you can now just speak a command to activate your heating.

Hope this is some help, as an alternative.

    Hi,

Yes, it is a good alternative, unfortunately right now it is outside my price bracket - too many pieces of kit required to make it work (for me) although I can see how it would be a great solution for a lot of people.

    Thanks for the suggestion

The problem is typical digital wireless thermostats need to be matched with the timeclock.
I would suggest getting a quote for fitting a single channel E.P.H. wireless clock and single room stat.
Once set up, the wireless room thermostat can be placed in a stand that is supplied with it and can be kept near to hand.
The stat has straightforward temp up and down buttons and a "heating on" boost button, so no need to leave the chair to bring on the heat.
Not sure on price, but could be well worth saving up for.

I replaced a simple mechanical thermostat with a Netatmo smart thermostat, was a five minute job.

Just joined the neutrals together then connected the other two cables to the Netatmo.
