Intermittent broadband connection today

Hi, I'm experiencing broadband intermittent connection issue today.

I did a speed test on my connection and it shows good speeds at first but then there is no connection to the site if I repeat the test. My work vpn keeps dropping every few secs. I tested Facebook site & I can see it keeps reconnecting the messenger every few secs. So, the connection keeps dropping off & re-connecting in a loop. I've noticed this behaviour since morning today. Restarted router, but that didn't work.

Also called the Eir Broadband support, they reset my router, lowered the speeds as it was close to the allowed max speed but the problem still persists. I request your kind assistance. Is there any maintenance happening around my area that I should be aware of ? Thanks.
