Leaving aside the principle of the thing...

On a purely practical level, it affects the waste companies in that their waste for recycling will be rejected if it's contaminated. this leads to higher costs for the customer (i.e. you).

Closer to home, I believe the waste companies are now starting to install cameras in their trucks, so they will know which homes are contaminating their recycling waste, and penalise them.

Your wife is dead right. Why would you put a nappy in the green bin ffs

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I lived in Germany as an Erasmus student in 1990 and was quite impressed by their recycling and repurposing.

Nearly 30 years later and we haven’t gotten our heads around this. We really need to grow up as a nation.

Would you not think it's just basic common sense and good manners to take a little care and not clog the place up with your crap?

As you have grandchildren you obviously don't have long for this planet so have won't be around when the inevitable payback comes...your grandchildren might though.

We're only temporary lodgers on this planet, we should leave it in good condition for the next bunch of lodgers.

what do people think is going to happen in the far distant future with all the waste and recycling , will it be like a Mad Max' film? As the waste companies want to weigh the bins at some stage their not worried about the planet --it's about making money for them, are they not already selling our recycled waste which we are paying them to take away?
