Dublin Graded Meets

    Hi,
Just wondering if any of you do these meets and what the standard is like? (I'd like to hear from women in particular, because I know men usually have grades A-C at least, while the women's often have just one race.

My more specific question: would someone running over 6 minutes for a mile be absolutely miles behind and lapped in the mile race? (My pal & I are getting a bit nervous about giving it a go on Wednesday - maybe we should just wait for a paced mile event later in the year?)

Check out the times for the Women's 1500m races at Graded 4 (or earlier meetings) - https://www.dublinathletics.com/results-of-graded-meeting-4.html - there were women finishing around 5:50 and 6 minutes, which is over 6 minute-mile pace. You'll definitely have company.

I would recommend the graded series to anyone thinking of it - they're very welcoming, it's a great buzz and Santry is a fantastic venue to race in.

    At meet 4 there were three women's 1500m races, an A race, a B + C 1, and a B + C 2. That race had runners from 5:14 to 6:02 (which is about 6:30 for a mile?).

    Meet 2 had a 1500m C race, 15 women from 5:05 to 6:55

You never really know until you turn up who else will be there, but I really doubt you'd be lapped with a 6 minute mile, and probably won't be last either.

Thanks! Thnak you very much for checking the results for me. I did look at the 1500m times, but I wasn't confident with my conversions to mile times. Company would be great -- I don't at all mind being last, but would love to be able to sort of hang on to a group. (Otherwise I can just secretly sneak off the track over near the Clonliffe clubhouse and slink away :))

    Thanks!

Thank you! Thanks very much for looking those up for me.

When we were signing up it seemed to imply it was a combined race for the women for the mile, but maybe if enough people sign up they might do A-C? (I got nervous when I told one of our club committee I was doing it and he said 'Make SURE you go in the C grade' -- that just made me worry I'd be way over my head if there wasn't a C grade.

I can go up and have a look anyway! Thanks!

Out of curiosity, could a lad from the west run in one of these or are they for Dublin registered club runners only??
