Have a satellite dish on the roof hooked up for free to air to a TV with built in receiver downstairs and hooked up to box upstairs. The downstairs tv is saying theres no signal but the box upstairs is working as normal. Ive unplugged and replugged the satellite cable but still nothing. From looking up at the dish it looks like the cables are still in the dish. Any thing else any one can recommend I need to do or try before I call someone out??

Possible faulty LNB output, cable fault or connector fault.

Can you swap over the cables at the dish end to see if the fault moves?

Don't want to insult your intelligence, but I assume you've made sure you're actually trying to view a channel from the relevant satellite on the TV?

Yes. All my channels are gone (bbc's, itv's, ch4, news channels) and when I go into the tuning menu it shows no satellite signal been received

Did you try the known good box downstairs to see if it is the box at fault or the cabling?

Was box moved as sometimes f connector wire might not have a connection?

My satellite is breaking up, and some channels are not working, it says, there is no satellite signal, for the ones that do not work, yet there are others without a problem, and it is happening in a couple of houses around where I live, I have checked connections, all seems ok

Was it raining at the time? How long have you had the problem? What part of the country are you in?

I would also ask what signal and quality are you getting to see if dish has moved slightly and water ingress of cable, hence why box swap was asked.

This problem is going on about 4 months, and I live in the southern tip of the country

I will check that later, when I get back, I don't think it is weather related, it was happening in that fine dry spell as well

Next door the engineer forgot to pull the skirt down and water ingress happened 40ft to box and at box was black burnt mark from water.new cables fitted and job done.+sometimes f connectors are not tight on lnb.

The none working channels i would ask if the box is setup to auto scan daily and channels moved would then be found with abm?
If box was never setup when channels moved they will be listed but blank.
