2018 Golf subwoofer?

Anyone know how I can get a subwoofer retro fitted to a 2018 Golf highline? The stereo, I mean “entertainment system” is all fancy touchscreen stuff, I asked in Halfords while they were hardwiring a dashcam (nextbase 412GW), the fella looked a bit concerned and his response was, “oh I don’t think you can, I’m not sure it would be a good idea, what with it being so new”. The sound from the unit is good but I have had a subwoofer for years now and I do love my bass. Any suggestions please, thanks.

Shouldn’t be that hard, you’d probably just need a line out converter or an amp with speaker level inputs. The likes of MDS in Palmerston could advise you on what’s possible.

+1 for MDS. They done a full speaker upgrade and sub in my car on Friday running off the factory head unit. Used them before for audio/security. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

fits perfectly behind the back seats in a golf, you lose almost no boot space and it will take the high level outputs so can be rigged to the rear speakers. A perfect fit

That amp looks sweet, my only concern is the auto on cable that has to be connected to the head unit. The head unit was the issue with Halfords guy, I got the impression he was either afraid or unsure how to get access to the back of it, it doesn’t look like there is a way to pop it out. It’s nearly all glass, I’m gonna ring those guys in palmerstown and see, I’m just nervous as it’s a new car, don’t want any issues, lots of digital stuff like the dash etc, has anyone had an upgrade to a similar aged golf? Need some bass badly

'auto on' is to stop your battery draining, assuming like 99% of people the radio will always be on when the car is on, most companies wire the auto on to a cigarette lighter or some other power cable thats only on when the car is. it'll be no issue.
