    Hi,

So I was working part time for a month and was being paid monthly and worked there for one month exactly.

I’ve now been offered a new job which I’ve decided to take however I was only paid in my previous job last week and was emergency taxed really hard on my first paycheck.

As I am now leaving that job how do I go about claiming this emergency tax back? Someone told me I will have to wait till the end of the year and I haven’t been able to get through to Revenue over the weekend. Really don’t want to wait till the end of the year as it’s a lot of money.

Have you arranged to get a tax credit cert from Revenue yet?

Have you registered for Revenue's my account yet?

If not, then away you go - time to take ownership of your own tax affairs!

Why not do it today, now!

When your old employer files your p45 with Revenue, a new tax credit cert should issue to your new employer who will then arrange for a refund of the tax through your wages if it's due. Keep an eye on your online account to see when your old employer files the p45.

I know what you question was, furthermore I know what the answer is - which is more than you do, so kindly stop being sarky. However, from the information that you provided it was evident that your employer hasn't yet received a tax credit certificate for you, so what I suggested that you do was 100% relevant. Anyhow, I see another poster has given you the information that you need, so I'm out.
