HP Pavillion not detecting Headphone jack

Hi, my HP Pavillion x360 13-s150sa, 13-in touchscreen laptop.
Headphones not working. Sound Settings only the Speakers are showing up. I tried a good deal of the online diagnostics that HP provide.
The HP support had a diagnostic test thing you download and run, but it cannot test anything it cannot detect so that was useless.
I bought it as a Refurb from Laptops Direct. The 3yr warranty is still valid. I already had to return it as motherboard went a couple of months ago. It took about 6 weeks altogether to return it (at my own expense) and get it fixed.

Think my solution, rather than return laptop to the UK for 6 weeks, is to buy a USB sound adapter. You then can plug headphones in via the USB port.
Someone else I know has one, I tried it, and it worked fine so ordered one from Ebay for 4 euros.
UPDATE: The USB adapter works great. Only thing is, it takes over from laptop MIC. So when using Skype you just need to reassign back the laptop MIC.
