7 foot high walled garden and every year fledglings drop in and can’t get out.

There are lots of raspberries here for them to eat and soil to go looking for bugs in bit of major concern is local cats

I’m concerned that they will think it’s handy living here pottering about and then finally one day meet the cat. It happened last week to a third little bird.

Should I try feed them with nuts etc ?
Should I try encourage them to go by any means? Inc somehow trap and release on flat ground ?
I’ve put a long plank acting as a ramp to get them to the top of the wall. I’m considering lining it with seeds to lure them up the plank to freedom

I don’t want to see feathers all over the place in the next few days

Fledglings by their very nature can fly. Don't do anything regarding trying to feed them. Your problem is the cat.

I’ve suspected that the garden may be a lovely place for them to fatten up but they don’t have enough fear to flight and I havnt been helping that. So I’m wondering should I try make them a bit afraid of me ? I was watering the garden and one of them was looking for worms a few feet away unphased at my presence initially. Don’t think that’s good for the bird to be that relaxed ....

Then I spotted what could be one of them using a trellace to get to the top of the wall. Perhaps it’s all an act !

Besides, if you've plants near the walls, they can hop from branch to branch even if they're not too confident with their flight. I'd say the parents are probably still around, but are better able to hide from you. :)

They were very convincing not flying around the garden but running a junping into bushes like there was something wrong with them. I picked some berries and left them near by for them to save them trying to pick them.

I decided to startle one a bit and he made it to the top of the wall and looked reluctantly beyond the berry paradise he was in, free lunch city and then glided off to reality.

I gave them all of my berries, but they treated me like a fool

    LOL
