I was just wondering where is the best places to buy lime in the Roscommon/ Mayo/ Galway area as I know a lot of quarries are selling poor quality lime. Also what is the cost per ton at the minute for good quality lime?. Thanks

Used it two years ago seeing the benefits of it now at 2t an acre wouldn’t spread anymore of it in one go and do it every five years.

Best person to ask is the local lad spreading lime. I didn't think that it was any different anywhere until I got talking to the local lad that spreads it around here. He said some places around here have right good stuff and some of it is muck.

quick question#and dont want to hijack the thread but is there a good or bad time to test the land for lime and is there a good or bad time to spread the lime or does it make any difference?

Generally, you test for P & K also when you test for the PH. You can spread lime anytime but you have to be careful when cutting silage, better to spread after cutting silage rather than before and allow 10 days after spreading Nitrogen Urea. See attached.

Any recommendations for suppliers in the midlands? Offaly/Tipp/Laois border. Also, will the lime affect grazing cattle or should you avoid grazing for a few weeks?

No effect on grazing, I blanket spread the farm a few years ago even where cattle were grazing.
