Ireland - Knife Murders

There seems to be a couple every week at this stage , doesn’t seem to matter where you are Dunleer, Mallow , Cahirciveen .... Dunmore East in Waterford last night ....someone looks at you sideways and you stab them to death☹️

The judges have a lot to answer for normally having give the murderer dozens of chances in the past plus Fine Gaels policy of closing virtually all rural Garda stations means scumbags can start intimidating their local communities from an early age without any fear of the law and progress to stabbing someone to death without any cares .

How many more innocent knives must lose their lives before we wake
    up to this.

Nothing wrong with a game of knifey-spoon.

Anyone convicted of stabbing someone should be convicted of attempted murder.

And the thing is when you're out of your mind drunk at 3 in the morning and a row breaks out in a house somewhere, you don't even have to be a traditional dirtbird (dozens of convictions) for things to go very wrong in an instant.

Issue is, why is a knife your choice of weapon?

As a teenager I carried a letherman multi tool with me most days, using it on any person or for that matter any living thing never ever crossed my mind in all those years. I guess some people are wired a different way.

Using drink as any kind of excuse isn't good enough, we all have a personal responsibility and that includes what you do when drinking.

I know the thread is knife crime but if a golf club or bottle etc was used would it make much of a difference? Drink and drugs and the heat of the moment + possible self defence or your hazy interpretation at the time.. stuff happens.

Is the trend of drinking at home part of the equation do you think?

First they came for the socialists...

    There is only one solution.

They should relax the sale of guns, this would reduce knife murders.

...and most importantly, change our Constitution to reflect this new found 'freedom'

Golf clubs are a bit hard to conceal.

You have to be a special sort of scumbag to carry a knife with you going out to pubs/clubs.

Yeah there was no stabbings before FG closed garda stations alright.

There’s been a huge increase ....having no garda stations in many towns leads to scumbags been able to get used to getting away with smaller crimes before they advance to doing whatever they want .....

Any links to the stats to support this?

Were they all making sambo's and suddenly run into someone?

Carrying knifes into pubs is poor form indeed.

If you're out on the town and the car is parked nearby -- the hurley or other sporting equipment is sometimes left in the boot. You don't necessarily have to walk back into the pub.

    Another one. 17 y/o stabbed a 25 y/o who died afterwards.

Guard: And how many times did you hit the intruder?
Me: Put me down for a four.

    :D

Hasn't there been an increase in that type of crime? Knife attacks at home. Just scanned some headlines earlier.

It's not much use having Garda stations if there is nobody in them.

98 of the 100 stations that were earmarked for closure over the course of the year are only open on a part-time basis, with 88 served by only one garda. 94 of the stations were ordinarily open for three hours a day or less.

Whether in their mind it's self-defence or just badness, in the moment, all these noble ideas of responsibility go straight out the window. And it will still happen.
