So I applied and have completed the assessments for the revenue. I got an email today saying that I have been placed number 22 in the order of merit.
Anyone familiar with this and what the placement means?

    Thanks!

Which competition was this for? What grade?

The way order of merit works is that when a vacancy comes up, they will offer it to number 1. If that person accepts it, they get the job but if not, it will be offered to number 2. The panel will last probably a year (check the info book) and as jobs arise, they'll offer these to whoever is next on the panel.

So, in short, there's 21 people ahead of you. There's no guarantee on whether you'll get a job offer, it depends on how many job vacancies there are during the length of the panel. Best of luck and hopefully you'll be offered a job!

Thanks for your response. I'm not sure of a grade. I don't see anything mentioned. It was forOpen Competition for Executive Officer – Tax, Audit and Compliance 2018.
The email did say interviews expected to take place in Sept with successful applicants starting in January.

    No problem.

Apologies, I assumed you had done the interview already. Given that you were number 22, I would think you are likely to be interview in September as they noted.

After the interviews, the successful candidates will get a panel number and the jobs will be filled as I described above.
