I see that Quantity Surveyors have to register title now (for the past few years)
can a registered quantity surveyor sign off on costing drawdown from my bank or do i still need an engineer architect for same?

What do you mean by "registered title"?

It would be rare to find a QS in practice who is not a member of the Society of Chartered Surveyors of Ireland

If you mean to certify stage payments you should check that with the bank giving the mortage

Looks like they will accept a QS so, find somebody who is a member of the Society of Chartered Surveyors of Ireland and you should be sorted or have you already hired an Engineer or an Architect?

Quantity Surveyors are not Building Surveyors. If your QS was coming under the "others please clarify" part, I'd also doubt that that they'd be accepted if they're not a member of the SCSI, as QS' usually don't undertake site inspections for compliance with building regs etc in the same way that an architect/surveyor/engineer does. Hence why the "practicing in construction" part is there; to delineate between say a mechanical engineer and a civil engineer.

You need to clarify directly with the bank to check with them if your QS is acceptable.

    Is your QS a BS?

    QS - Quantity Surveyor
    BS - Building Surveyor

2 totally separate roles and in my experience, I have never seen a QS sign off on any works or stage payment.

In my recent experience, a bank will only accept one from the following for certifying works, Building Surveyor, Architect or Engineer. They must be a member of a regulatory body (i.e. SCSI, RIAI, ICE) and must posses PI Insurance, evidence of both of these requirements will need to be submitted before mortgage offer will be issued by bank.

The SCSI for years have been trying to get bank's to recognize the role of a Quantity Surveyor in the construction process, they have yet to succeed.
