Hi, quick question that I’ve not been able to find the answer to online. I also communicated with Ebay yesterday in an online chat.

I sold my first item yesterday and Paypal payment went through no problem. I had sold it with free postage and packaging. I looked up the guidelines for posting as I wanted to be sure everything was done correctly. I saw that you should have an option under “sell” for printing off postage labels. There was no option for this anywhere on my account. So did the online chat and they couldn’t figure out why the option wasn’t there and they consulted technical support. Got a reply overnight that the issue wasn’t resolved but that it was an issue for others yesterday. The person on the chat assumed I was in the UK and asked if I could redirect to Royal Mail or a courier. I informed her I was in Ireland and postal service here would be An Post.

Normally is it just printed labels with my address and the buyers address? And then I bring to An Post and pay postage? From US forums I got the impression that using the eBay labels would reduce the postage cost, but I’m not sure if that works here or only though a courier. Or can I bring the parcel then to An Post with the eBay labels and postage is covered via eBay?

In any case I posted the item this morning via registered post so I’d have a tracking number in case there was an issue and I okayed this with the buyer.

Printing a postage label is for the uk and it’s pre paid so you pay and print the label and then take it to the pick up point
Sending registered post is fine, update the tracking number on eBay

Thanks OmegaGene. So really the person on chat should have known that? Anyway, thanks.
