Hi just wondering is a transfer time of 2hrs and 5mins enough , flying into chicago airport then getting a connecting flight 2hrs later , will be leaving from Dublin so there should be no problem with ques for clearance ?? as it would be done in dublin .

I don't know about Chicago specifically but 2 hours is usually more than enough time to transfer in any airport.

I'd imagine it should be fine, there's metro/train link between terminals.

It's < 5 mins from arrival gate to the exit point of the terminal that AL land into.

I went through Chicago last october and think I had just over 2hrs for the transfer window .. worked out fine.
Got off the Dublin flight , got the connector train to change terminal and the TSA queue for the domestic flight wasn't too bad.

I was in Chicago a month ago and it was a nightmare. The train that runs between the terminals was broken and the bus system they had in place was a mess. I would have missed my flight if it hadn’t been delayed so it could be worth checking if they’ve got that running again yet.

Two hours is tight but doable, Chicago is a big mess and delays are routine

Assuming this is all on a single ticket and your luggage will be checked through to destination, if not 2 hours won't be enough.

    1. Exit the aircraft quickly and get to the train to domestic terminal (T1 for United which of course is the furthest away...)
    2. Get through security (again)

Make sure you select a seat on the internal flight in the US, find the booking reference do it now, nearly all US airlines allow free seat selection

If you do this the check in in Dublin will be able to issue all the boarding cards in a single go so you won't need to queue up again in ORD

It's definitely tight as security in O'Hare is a nightmare. I had a 2 hour 20 minute connection before and just made it. Lucky the flight was delayed, good old United Airlines. You might land from Dublin ahead of time so that should help too.

Ah Chicago.... I do not like that airport. 2hrs is enough if it's not busy but it's an awful airport for everything getting backed up.

    Things to note:

You will likely need to change terminals
You will need to go through security again.
Your checked bags will meet you at final if you checked them in to final destination.
You will have a 15 minute delay that 8 hrs later you are still sitting looking at a screen that says 15 minute delay...

2 Hours should be fine. If it's looking tight, find one of the roaming airport staff and tell them you're in danger of missing your flight. Try get an escort past whatever queue you're in.
Assuming the connecting flight is to within the US, your bags should meet you at the end. If you're going onward to another country (e.g. Canada), you'll likely need to pick up your bags, walk them through some sort of security area and drop them off again. They're already checked in, just some odd airport security thing that you need to 'identify' your bags.
That said, last 3 times I went through Chicago, they lost at least one of my bags. On one trip I had 2 checked bags and put them down right beside each other...one made it to Dublin, the other didn't. I don't go through there anymore, unless absolutely unavoidable.
