    Rocky Is Home:)

Looking at this picture you would never guess this little guy got lost in Dollymount on Saturday morning.

He was a rescue dog and very nervous.

When word quickly spread to all the Dog Walkers down there,

They quickly organized themselves into teams, searched and spread out looking for the missing Rocky.

There were brief glimpses of him but Rocky was a rescue Dog and was very skittish especially around men.

There were chases but this little Rocket was very fast and clever at digging himself in to avoid the glaring heat in those sand dunes.

The search went on into the night, with one man (Denim Hat) searching until 2am.

Sunday morning was a 6am start.

Those amazing people were back, with sandwiches, tea, coffee and all sorts of goodies to fuel the search.

A very nice man came down and tried to help with a drone and when he found Rocky, he hovered overhead where Rocky was hiding.

The searchers slowly moved to the spot but Rocky heard them approaching and he was off like a Rocket.

Watching the drone following him for the next 15 seconds, I was Amazed the distance such a little Dog could achieve so quickly.

There were little intervals of interruption during the evening.

A lad called EOIN found a very tired racing pigeon, luckily one of the lads lived beside a Pigeon owner and quickly brought to him,
where he deduced from it's tags that it was a young bird from Norn Iron, he would look after it till it is well again, then release it to go home.

But the search went on, the heat was incredible and we were wondering how the little was doing in such intense heat.

But this was a very determined team of people who even as darkness approached didn't want to go home without the little lost dog.

The search finally ended when a group of ladies who were down at the Sea Scouts hut with their dogs spotted a tired looking dog playing with their's..

They had heard about the missing dog earlier from Brian.

They gave him a bit of food and then put a lead on his harness

The search team wasn't far away and they quickly converged to the sea scout building where the owner was quickly reunited with his little friend.

    Time was 22.45 Sunday night

It was a very touching moment that brought relief to all those in this incredible two days.

A lady called Rosemary had a backpack with water and dog treats.

Rocky duly obliged and dispatched all the water and goodies and gave Rosemary a little "Thank You" lick on the hand.

We all slowly went our separate ways as the adrenaline that fueled us throughout the day quickly evaporated and an overall wave of tiredness hit everyone.

It was time for bed and Rocky would be sleeping in his own bed tonight.

Well done everyone who searched Saturday or Sunday or Both Days.

Incredible people who have restored my belief in the goodness of people in general.

Jane, Rosemary, Cieran, John, EOIN and their families.

A very very very special thank you to that guy with the denim hat.
over sat-sun search he did and incredible 120,000 steps on his Fitbit.

To everyone who took part and spread the word about the little feller.

    Thanks

Rocky had a lot of people to stand by him

Amazing story, and it's heartwarming that there are actually people who care enough to help out there.

Glad Rocky is home safe and cosy in his bed again.

    Update

The Pigeon found by Eoin was looked after by a Pigeon Breeder.

    He got it healthy again.

He released it early this morning and has confirmed it got home safely to Belfast.

As the Sun sets of the wooden bridge in Dollier, the silence is eerie considering the noise that was generated by the people calling out the dogs name on Saturday and Sunday night.

Never in the history of Bull Island has so much, been done by so many, for so long, for one dog.

    That was their finest hour
