I never understand this. A ticket to the races is about 20-25euro for the big days. I haven't been to Galway in a few years but a ticket for the oaks on Saturday was 20 euro and you get to see some top quality action with a number of hours entertainment. Hardly going to break the bank. It's only the price of 4 pints.

Please support these tracks on their big days. Would you expect to get free tickets for a gaa or soccer match?

€20 for a standard ticket to the races on Saturday 4 July. They can be purchased here. €20 for a full day's entertainment is not bad. You'd pay €25 for the GAA match in Kerry or Galway on the same day, or €10 into Copper's, and that's before you get your pints, etc.

Race courses need the support. We don't want to see any have to close because people weren't supporting them because they didn't want to pay the €20 into the races, instead preferring a free ticket so they can spend the cash on beer.

Not necessarily. Depends on the deal they have with the catering companies or those who are running the bars. Often it could just be a flat fee, regardless of how many beers/meals are sold. So all the pints sold mightn't be worth as much as you think to the racecourse.
