Saorview through Sky Satellite

I've recently bought a Walker WPS5019SM and moved into a house with a Sky satellite but no Sky box. The TV says it's Saorview approved and has a cable line-in at the back, so I connected the two cables from the Sky dish, through a 2-way splitter into a single cable and into the back of the TV.

When I do an automatic channel search using the Astra 2 satellite, I get all the UK channels in the list, but no signal from the satellite. Is there a problem with the dish or do I need a Saorview box to view these channels?

    Cheers,

    Colbarr.

OP you shouldn’t need a Saorview box if TV is Saorview approved. You will need a rooftop aerial or a “rabbits ears”) to pick up the Irish stations, you won’t get those through the satellite dish.

For the U.K. channels (which you will get throug the dish) )you might need to be sure the dish is properly aligned and cables are secured etc. Also check the LNB is a regular one and not the wide band Sky Q type which only works with Sky Q.

The Saorview channels on the Astra Satellite are available with a Sky subscription only.
Without a Sky sub you need a terrestrial aerial (suitable for your local transmitter) to pull in the terrestrial broadcasts of Saorview.

The two cables from an LNB on the Sat Dish should not be joined ... they are for separate inputs into the receiving device (tuners).
