Has anyone created any automations around their virgin media horizon box?

I recently got the Broadlink RM Mini for automating a fan but during initial setup I thought I would see could I use to to automate my horizon box. Unfortunately this doesn't seem to work as it looks like it's remote is basically a bluetooth keyboard.

Has anyone successfully set up an automation for it?

I use an ir sender with vm box so there is some ir but still might have Bluetooth for kb

I tried to set it up but my IR couldn't learn the command. I could read the TV On button (top left), but not the box on (top right). I mostly just want on/off so I can turn it on in another room as it takes so long to start

While the Virgin Media Horizon box does have IR as far as I know, the remote is an RF remote. When I queried this, the response was that because the remote was also the keyboard, RF was required because it is omni-directional. I'm not sure I believe that, but that's the situation.

As I understand it you can use a third-party remote with the Horizon box, you can't program it with the Horizon remote. If you have something like a Logitech Harmony remote, you can select the Samsung Horizon box from the database, and it will work. I have not done this myself. YMMV.

You can adjust the sleep mode/stand by so it stays up much faster. Also the horizon remote is RF o can be used in another room

I have got the Logitech harmony remote linked up to the Horizon box and use Alexa to turn on and off the tv and can change some channels via voice control

Handy when you have a baby screaming in your arms and can turn tv off without looking for the remote:)
