How has it impacted your daily life?

Were you treated differently at school/ work due to your condition?

Hi, I don't suffer from it myself but my daughter does since birth. She had a shunt inserted as a baby and replaced due to blockage at age 4. It has affected her in many ways. Maths would have been particularly hard for her, as would learning anything off by heart, her handwriting speed would be considerably slower. She sometimes may not get the joke or be able to detect what someone means in conversation. She finds certain situations very stressful eg noisy, crowded environments. School was tough going for her but she had great help from SNAs all the way through, all teachers were aware of her condition and were aware of what she was capable of and where her difficulties lay. She had certain accomodations in exams such as extra time in a room on her own with a reader present, also the use of a laptop. This made things less stressful for her at school. She does suffer badly with anxiety but not sure if this is directly linked to the hydrocephalus. Hope that has answered some of your queries :)
