What are the Chances of getting into Corrib village/ cuirt na Coribe student accommod

I'm going to nuig this year and I have no accommodation sorted.
I'm on the waiting list for cuirt, and I heard of other people getting into cuirt by waiting outside of the office before courses are offered and basically begging the people at the office to give them a place to stay once people who didn't get their courses drop out.
Just wondering if that actually works and if it would work with the people over Corrib?
I'm not even on the waiting list for Corrib though so would waiting outside be pointless there?

I'm also curious about this. I remember a few years ago some people i know queued outside corrib but im not sure if its still a thing? I'm also curious about menlo to be honest (their waiting list is still open btw)
