Anyone following ir? Already swam 100km of 560km , in what is a bid to raise the plight of our oceans as they transcend before our eyes. Fascinating to watch, a great example of.human endurance and the quest to push boundaries. Along the way he has to navigate through swarms of jellyfish, plastic bags (jellyfish ghosts), sharks and even german warships. He is doing it in accordance with Channel rules.. that's the English Channel btw, the best Channel.

I don't know about a live tracker as such but Sky News are providing a live blog as well as a continous stream of updates on TV.

How is he “raising the plight of our oceans” exactly?

Sorry was poorly worded.. I meant to say raising awareness to damage caused to the marine environment by pollution and human activities.

    He’s not. He’s swimming.

I don’t like this raising awareness nonsense. I remember hearing a Young Greenpeace activist being interviewed on the radio about carbon emissions. She was ranting about cars and the subject was changed to emissions from cattle. She was asked if she was a vegetarian. She said she wasn’t but it was important to raise awareness. As if it’s OK to kill the planet as long as you are aware that you are doing it.

I’m aware the oceans are ****ed. I don’t need aquaman constantly trying to remind me of it.

Right, ok.. just because you are doesn’t mean everyone is.. a and he’s not just swimming, he’s also organizing beach cleanups along the way, so there’s social activism as well. Every time a documentary focuses on our oceans, and documents the dramatic changes that have occurred in the past 50 years, that is raising awareness.. whether you think there is a hidden agenda at play is your only opinion.
